Wellpinit shines in district opener
Ashlynn Hill led the way for Wellpinit in their District 7 1B tournament opener with 15 points to help the Redskins get the win over visiting Selkirk 40-28.
Wellpinit took the lead with a 10-4 opening quarter and never relinquished that lead despite a Rangers squad that fought to stay in contention the whole way. The six-point first quarter lead was the largest margin of any of the periods with Wellpinit never getting ahead by more than three in any other period the rest of the game.
Kaitlyn Chantry had a team high 13 points for Selkirk in the losing effort.
Northport falls to Odessa
Northport traveled to Odessa for their first round game in the Dsitrict 7 1B tournament Wednesday looking to pull off an upset over the Tigers. A stumble in the first quarter had the Mustangs chasing Odessa all night ultimately leading to a 59-37 defeat.
The Tigers got up by 10 after the the first and extended the lead by halftime. Northport came out with renewed vigor in the third to claw back into the game, but another run by Odessa in the fourth put the game away for good.
Isabelle Bair had 13 and Eliza Stark pitched in 8 to lead the Mustangs in the game.
