VOLLEYBALL: Chewelah takes one set in loss to state power NWC

Kirry leads the way with 13 kills…

In their second go around in the league, the Cougars showed marked improvement against Northwest Christian winning one set and nearly winning a second one in a 15-25, 24-26, 25-18, 16-25 NE 2B North league loss to the private school Crusaders on Tuesday.

Lilly Kirry continues her offensive tear for Chewelah, notching 13 kills, while Elle Carpenter dished out 23 assists and Mia Bellevue had three aces. Bellevue also had two blocks.




Chewelah had previous won five straight while Northwest Christian improved their league record to 8-0 on the year and are close to winning the league title.

Previously, Chewelah had lost to Northwest Christian at home 25-11, 25-19, 25-12 on Sept. 19.

The Cougars are 7-3 on the year and will host NE 2B North foe St. George’s on Thursday for “Dig Pink Night” at 6:30 p.m.
