Northport gets the win
Northport showed visiting Cusick no mercy Tuesday night, scoring at will and playing smothering defense en route to a 53-18 win.
Cusick never managed more than seven points in any quarter on the night leading to a 30-6 halftime lead for the Mustangs (5-6, 4-3) that they grew to 51-13 by the end of three before dialing it back in the fourth.
Madison Straayer scored 14 and Eliza Stark had 12 to lead Northport to the victory. Belle Stark pitched in another 9 for the Mustangs in the game. Northport hosts Curlew in their next go-round Jan. 24 at 6 p.m.
Colville notches another win
Colville got scoring from all over the court Tuesday night to bury the visiting Newport Grizzlies 63-41.
Three players scored in double digits and a fourth fell just a point shy of the same feat to help the Indians notch an early lead and ride that momentum all the way to the easy win.
Jordyn True was the team’s high scorer with 17, while Katelynn Lewis had 13 and Andi Brown had 10 to lead the team. McKenna Reggear threw in another 9 for the Indians (9-6, 4-3) for good measure. Colville will travel to Medical Lake for their next game Jan. 24.
Selkirk loses on road
Selkirk squared off against a tough Inchelium team on the road Tuesday night. It was tough going for the Rangers right from the start on the way to a 55-32 loss.
Inchelium put up a 33-10 score in the first quarter, proving to be all they needed on the night despite a Rangers rally in the second half that closed the gap in the end.
Selkirk (7-8, 3-6) was led by 13 from Madison Chantry and 11 from Bree Dawson. The Rangers will host Cusick Jan. 24 starting at 6 p.m.
Hunters comes home with loss…
Odessa used an opening first quarter run Tuesday night to set the tone against Hunters, sending the Lions to a 56-10 loss.
The Lions fell behind after a 24-6 first quarter score and couldn’t make up any ground the rest of the way.
Lexie Nelson scored 6 points to lead the Lions (1-11, 1-7) in the game. Hunters travels to Wellpinit for their next matchup Jan. 24 at 6 p.m.
