LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Spokane’s “Sanctuary City” a threat to our county
Here is a letter to the editor from the Nov. 7 edition of the Chewelah Independent…
Dear Editor,
“Sanctuary Cities” must end. The recent death of a woman, Kate Steinle, who was shot by an illegal alien who had been previously deported from the U.S. five times, highlights the federal government’s refusal to enforce our country’s existing immigration laws. We need to end the existence of “Sanctuary Cities.” Cities must cooperate with federal agents. More than 200 cities refuse to cooperate with federal immigration agents.
We need to prevent further tragedies committed by criminal, illegal aliens. Spokane is a “Sanctuary City.” People are coming into the Spokane area without background checks. As they enter Spokane, it is not far from them to come into Stevens County.
Ecclesiastes 8:11 reads, “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.”
This quote is from the Holy Bible. Yes, “Sanctuary Cities” must end.

(Editor’s Note: After some research, Spokane is not a sanctuary city and is not considered to be one by immigration activists. Read more here: https://www.inlander.com/Bloglander/archives/2017/08/25/is-spokane-a-sanctuary-city-a-semantic-investigation)
