One new COVID-19 case reported in Newport

The Northeast Tri County Health District reported one new positive COVID-19 case in Pend Oreille County on Friday, saying they received the news on August 20 about the test results. The person resides in Newport.

There have been 36 cases of COVID-19 in the Newport area since the beginning of the pandemic.

There have been 30 cases in NE Washington of the virus in the past two weeks, and 15 of those have been in Pend Oreille County.

Northeast Tri-County Health also some announced some changes to the statistics.

“You will notice that with this additional case the total number of cases for all three counties did not increase We completed a case reconciliation with the numbers being reported by Washington State Department of Health and located a duplicate case that was being reported on our end for Ferry County. With the removal of this duplicate case the total count for Ferry County is now 23,” the district said in their news release.The NE Tri-County Health District will not report case counts on the weekend and will update Monday through Friday. Weekend case counts will be included in Monday’s data.
