Lady Cougars Deserve Respect

Editor,

As a Chewelah Cougar supporter I was offended by the comment made last week regarding the Lady Cougar Basketball Team. “Who would have believed they would start their season with a pair of wins”…really! I can tell you that the score does not always reflect how hard and dedicated an athlete is. These girls work hard year around in multiple sporting events, they give up personal time to be in the gym or on a field, they spend hours on the bus doing homework to keep their grades up, their summers have been spent not lounging at the lake but at basketball and volleyball camps. They represent Chewelah on and off the court year round. For what these athletes lack in size and regardless of what the scoreboard reads, these girls more than make up for it with heart, attitude and dedication. The very least we can do as a community is show them support and RESPECT! If the comment was suppose to be funny it wasn’t. It was rude!

Girls…Clear eyes full hearts. Go Cougs!
