Karen Jean Lyson November 26, 1948-June 22, 2020. After a hard-fought battle with an aggressive cancer, Karen J. Lyson of Chewelah, passed away on June 22, 2020 while in the devoted care of House of Hospice Spokane.

Karen was born on November 26, 1948 in Alhambra, CA to father Richard McNeil and mother Martha Johnson, who both predeceased her, along with older brother David.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Marlin Lyson of Chewelah, her son Richard, daughters Erica and Heather, step-children Debbie, Teresa, Tony and Christine, as well as 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Karen’s siblings Gary, Ken, Lydia and Brett, mourn her like a second mother.

Karen enjoyed an amazing career in cosmetology. From make-up artist in Hollywood, award winning nail artist, to the local salons, along with the personal at-home haircuts we appreciated.

Karen’s brilliant creativity has been sorely missed by the many organizations and memberships she donated her time and resources to over the years. Her energy and skills were put to work in every church she attended. Karen participated in fundraising for (HAN) Hands Across Nation Missions, Royal Family Kids Camp, was on the boards of the senior center and farmers market, lent her beautiful voice to the Sweet Adelines of Spokane was a soroptomist and Red Hat Society member.

The family would like to thank the wonderful community in Chewelah that has given Karen and Marlin so much love and friendship with their kind assistance, support and contributions.

We regret, that due to Covid-19 Pandemic, no formal service is planned at this time. A memorial service will be announced when conditions improve.
