HOW THEY FARED: Here is how the AP Top Ten prep football teams did in Week 9

(BRANDON HANSEN/Chewelah Independent)

2B still causing people to scratch heads…

In the 2Bs, No. 1-ranked Onalaska was idle this week which isn’t very gritty. I imagine the loggers spent their bye week not passing, looking up old Eastern Oregon football highlights of Assistant Coach Wayne Nelson and seeing how they could make their uniforms look even muddier come Friday. No. 2-ranked Napavine beat Rainier (no not the mountain) 51-6 to improve to 8-1. No. 3 Kalama beat Toutle Lake 52-8 to improve to 7-2 on the year. Toutle Lake is neither a lake nor a town known as Toutle. It’s a long story.

No. 4 Tri-Cities Prep improved to 8-1 by beating Waitsburg-Dayton 27-15, while No. 5 Asotin also marked up to 8-1 with a 14-13 victory over two-win Lind-Ritzville-Sprague, which makes everyone shake their heads.

No. 6 Adna beat Morton White Pass 69-0, causing a celebration in town if Adna was actually a town and not a gas-station post office combo.

Chewelah-defeated Lake Roosevelt has the No. 7-ranked spot after beating Brewster 57-6. No. 8 Colfax was idle. No. 9 Columbia-Burbank is looking like the eastside sleeper, downing White Swan 51-24 to move to 8-1 on the year.

No. 10 Friday Harbor beat Granite Falls 42-0.

No. 1-ranked Royal is still ruling the world and defeated College Place 76-7. No. 2 La Salle, No. 3 Lynden Christian and No. 4 Mount Baker each picked up wins.
NEA League champ No. 5 Deer Park improved to 8-0 after downing Medical Lake 62-12.

No. 10 Colville beat Freeman 49-33 in a game that wasn’t as close as the score indicates.

Colville and Deer Park get a bye week this Friday but will be thrown into the 1A meatgringer that includes seven undefeated teams in the postseason bracket.

AP Voters continue to ignore Selkirk because apparently ACH losing by 80 only drops them to the No. 3 spot. No. 1 Odessa downed Wilbur Creston 66-8, No. 2 Nasell beat Taholah 56-0, so both top two teams ate 9-0.

No. 3 ranked ACH beat Liberty Bell 56-16 and No. 4 Entiat downed Waterville-Mansfield 56-0.

1B reseeds twice in the postseason so we will see how Selkirk slates in.
