Honoring public servants, veterans

Editor,

I have had the privilege of working with the inmates of Stevens County Jail since I have lived here. I serve as chaplain and am in the jail giving spiritual help several times each week. I have served as chaplain for the Colorado State Highway Patrol and as chaplain in the Los Angeles county Jail System. In addition I am a war veteran of the USA.

Public servants and veterans of USA Armed Forces are invited to attend a special service in their honor on Sunday, May 6 at 11 a.m. at the Arden Faith Baptist Church, located at 673 Arden Hill Road, Colville, WA. This is six miles south of Colville, and is known as “The Church on the Hill behind the Mill.” Please come in uniform. If you so desire, you may speak about the important work you do for the citizens of our area.

As pastor of the church, I will preach a message from Romans 13:1, which says, “Let every soul be subject to the higher powers…”

I trust we will have a good number of public servants and veterans present on that morning of May 6. This would include fire-fighting personnel, police department and sheriff’s personnel, ambulance personnel, county jail correctional officers, boarder patrol, county and city employees and other public officials, etc.

The Holy Bible states, “As we therefore have opportunity, let us be good unto all men…” Galatians 6:10. This is what you are doing.

Sincerely,

Dr. Arthur Houk

Colville
