This weekend in NE Washington is going to be a hot one. The National Weather service has issued an excessive heat watch with hot conditions and temperature highs in the upper 90s and low 100s.
Today’s Stevens County forecast will be sunny with a high of 85 and low of 53. Saturday will see a high of 92 and low of 57. On Sunday, it will be a 100 degrees and a low of 66.
The National Weather Service said that the extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. The heat advisory will be in effect until Tuesday.
“Be prepared to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air- conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” the National Weather Service warned. “Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.”
