Community Invited to Help in City Clean-Up

The Chewelah Chamber of Commerce and City of Chewelah have partnered to declare this Saturday, April 21, as Chewelah’s Community Clean-up day. The Chamber is hoping that every business, as well as individuals and community organizations, will participate and show their pride for our city.

Everyone who wants to participate should meet in the parking lot of Napa Auto Parts, 107 E. Main, on Saturday morning, April 21 at 9 a.m. Everyone will divide up to target five areas in town that have been identified as needing attention by the Beautification Committee.

“Please bring ‘tools of the trade’ including brooms, shovels, gloves, hoses, and sprayers. Those would be much appreciated,” Committee chairwoman Roberta McMillin said.

McMillin also encouraged any businessperson who just wants to concentrate on their own storefront to do so. “If you can help with one of the target areas, great! If you wish to spend that morning working on your own business, that’s great too!” McMillin said. She said that the sidewalks in front of each business should be swept, leaving the dust and dirt in the street. According to McMillin, the City crew will sweep the streets on Monday morning, April 23.

In addition to sweeping, the committee suggests that each business pull weeds, wash the winter dust off their building, paint, or whatever it takes to brighten up their part of town.

The Chamber wants to thank everyone, in advance, for their effort, support, and pride. “Let’s make 2012 our most beautiful ever!”
