City of Chewelah looking for residents to serve on civil service
(PRESS RELEASE/City of Chewelah)
The City of Chewelah has a position open on its Civil Service Commission. The commission is composed of three persons appointed by the mayor for the purpose of establishing the rules and regulations governing our local police department. The rules and regulations, as defined by the commission, shall be in accordance with Washington State law and are outlined by RCW 41.12.
In order to serve as a commission member, you must be a citizen of the United States, a registered voter in Stevens County, and a resident of the City of Chewelah for at least three years immediately preceding your term.
Though there is no compensation for the position, serving on the Civil Service Commission offers an opportunity for conscientious, motivated citizens to become involved in local government. The term of service is six years.
If you are interested in serving on the Civil Service Commission, please contact Mayor Dorothy Knauss by mail at PO Box 258, Chewelah, WA or by email at mayor@cityofchewelah.org.
