Andrew Loyd Weber is a musical genius. It is an opinion that few people can argue against. From his brilliant Phantom of the Opera to his controversial Jesus Christ Superstar the legendary playwright is easily a household name. Which is why it is no surprise that Jenkins High School’s Theatrical Department would choose to take on this legend’s earliest work: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Written when Weber was 18 years old, this musical retelling of the biblical story of Joseph is ripe with choral music and songs ranging many different genres. All the way from Country Western to 1950’s Rock-and-Roll, the play is a diverse petri dish of different musical sounds.
