(STAFF REPORTS/Chewelah Independent)
International borders in North America are still closed to non-essential travel.
The border to Stevens County’s north will be closed until at least late August, as the United States, Canada and Mexico have agreed to keep their borders closed to non-essential travel until at least August 21.
These border closures have been enacted to slow the spread of the virus. This means that crossings are limited to commercial traffic, people returning to their home country and other travel considered essential. People cannot travel across the border for tourism or shopping.
