Big innings for Kettle Falls almost lifts Bulldogs to two wins…

Kettle Falls split a NE 2B doubleheader against Northwest Christian on Monday, winning the first game 8-6 but falling 9-7 in the nightcap.

In the first game, the Bulldogs notched eight hits, including a triple by Jordan Clendennen. Clendennen and Mikey Crumpler each had two RBI apiece in the 8-6 victory. 

Tied up 6-6 in the bottom of the sixth, the Bulldogs added two runs to go ahead and relief pitchers Matt Thompson and Mikey Crumpler shut the door on NW Christian in the top of the seventh.

Starting pitcher Cade McKern combined with those two bullpenners to hold NW Christian to five hits in the game.

In the second game, NW Christian pitcher Gunner Kuehl struck out 13 and his team fending off a furious Bulldog rally late in the game.

Down 9-0 in the bottom of the sixth, the Bulldogs put seven runs on the board but couldn’t made any headway in the seventh. Kettle Falls also committed five errors in the game.

Leo Clendennen had a double in the game for the Bulldogs.

Kettle Falls is now 4-2 on the year and will play at Springdale on Friday.
