Kubik collects three hits in victory…

Chewelah pulled away from Riverside late for a 5-2 NEA League victory to improve to 6-2 on the year on Friday afternoon. Justin Rollis and Andrew Sweat scattered eight Rams hits while the Cougar bats broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth and added two more insurance runs in the seventh for the win. 

At the plate, Zak Kubik led the Cougars with a 3-for-4 outing with a double. Sweat also had a double in the game and Gavin Parrott added two hits.

Chewelah as a team had ten hits.

Rollis pitched the first five innings and struck out six in the game. Sweat struck out three.

It was the sixth straight win for the Cougars as the team has opened up league play with a 2-0 record.
