Indians now 11-0 on the year…
Colville pitching was too much for the Newport Grizzlies in their Saturday opener, keeping Newport out of the scoring column 10-0.
Justin Berg tossed a no-hitter, getting 14 strikeouts in the process to get the win. Colville got just one run through the first three innings to keep the game close, but the bats exploded in the fourth, getting five in the inning and adding four more in the fifth.
Colville got 12 hits, four of them doubles, on their way to the 12 runs scored. Grant Michaliszyn and John Knight had a double each, and Hunter True had a pair to lead the offense.
The two were set for a second game on the day, but the game went to Colville by forfeit to give Colville (11-0, 7-0) another win on the season.
Colville’s next game will take on a team from Nelson, BC April 16 in Colville. First pitch is 3 p.m.
