(PRESS RELEASE/49 Degrees North)
Eminger had owned Chewelah ski resort for 23 years…
49 Degrees North’s previous owner and General Manager John Eminger has announced his retirement. Mr. Eminger recently completed the sale of the ski area and announced his retirement to be effective November 15, 2019.
While working closely with new ownership, Mr. Eminger continued as the General Manager through the summer and worked diligently to plan and implement improvement projects across the mountain. Eric Bakken, longtime Mountain Manager, took over the reins as General Manager effective November 15, 2019.
On April 19, 2019 49 Degrees North was acquired by CMR Lands for an undisclosed price. 49 Degrees North and Silver Mountain resorts will now have related ownership but will operate as independent entities.
John Eminger owned 49 Degrees North Mountain Resort for 23 years. During that span, he planned and executed substantial improvements to the resort and the snowsports industry as a whole. He was an active member of the snowsports industry in the Pacific Northwest region and co-founded Ski the Northwest Rockies Association, which continues to thrive today. On the mountain, his vision led to 2 chairlift additions and over 700 new acres of terrain.
Mr. Eminger leaves 49 Degrees North Mountain Resort better than he found it, with a strong team of senior staff, all of whom look ahead to a bright future of skiing and riding. Rick Brown, previously the Director of Snowsports School, has become the Director of Skier and Rider Services and Alison Pasino has taken the role of Snowsports School Director. The 49 Degrees North staff and management team wish Mr. Eminger all the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his many years of dedication.
49 Degrees North looks forward to the start of our 2019/2020 season. Snowmaking and a close eye on the weather forecast will help dictate early season operations. Management plans to open as quickly as possible, with conditions for all to enjoy. For updates on operations, upcoming events and more, please visit our brand new website, www.ski49n.com.
