POWERING TO A WIN: Colville wins rematch of state title game with big – and important – win over Grizzlies…
In a rematch of the State 1A title game from last year, the result was the same as Colville downed NEA League foe Newport 55-13 on Friday as the Indians battled for the second place spot in the standings.
Colville got 158-yards rushing and three touchdowns from Indians running back Grant Michaliszyn, and two touchdowns from who we think might be a T-800 Paul Skirko.
Skirko got the game off on the right foot, ripping of a 50-yard touchdown run. Newport would answer back with a touchdown, but Colville then rattled off five unanswered touchdowns.
Michaliszyn scored on a one-yard run, quarterback Sam Anderson ripped off an 88-yard touchdown run and Takoda Morrison threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Skirko to round out the first quarter. In the second stanza, Michaliszyn had scoring runs of 20 and one yard to give Colville the 42-7 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, Newport notched an 11-yard touchdown run, but Sam Anderson answered back with a three-yard touchdown run and then threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Baun.
The win is the second-straight for the Indians, who have winless Medical Lake and 3-4 Freeman left on the schedule. Colville and Freeman are both 3-1 in the league standings but will face undefeated Deer Park on Oct. 25. The Indians travel to Medical Lake this Friday to play at 7 p.m.
