Local soccer kids would like to say a big thank you to Paul Sety of Sety’s Ace Hardware. Mr. Sety’s generous donation, combined with support from the Chewelah Kiwanis, purchased 18 brand new soccer balls for the 2012 Chewelah Youth Soccer Association year.
25 area youth attended the 3 day soccer camp, which was held August 22-24 at Barbour Complex field. Many useful soccer skills were taught, including offensive and defensive theory. All youth soccer athletes were joined by the Chewelah High School athletes and coaches for a hot dog lunch after camp on Friday. The lunch was organized by school superintendent and Kiwanian Rick Linehan. Several other Kiwanians volunteered their time and enjoyed the exciting atmosphere. The Chewelah Youth Soccer Association would like to thank the Chewelah School District for the use of their facilities.
The Chewelah Youth Soccer Association would like to remind all interested parties of soccer sign ups for the 2012 year. They will be held at Gess Elementary on Tuesday September 4 during the back to school BBQ and open house starting at 5 p.m. The sign up cost for soccer will be $10. Forms will be available at Gess Elementary for those who will not be able to attend the BBQ. All soccer registration forms will need to be returned to Gess Elementary no later than Friday, September 7.
