YOUNG WRITERS RECOGNIZED: At the recent Washington state convention of the General Federated Woman’s Clubs, it was announced that two Gess Elementary students were among the winners of the annual Young Writers Contest. Alison Pugh and McCall Smith were local winners in the local GFWC contest. Their winning compositions were then sent to the state level where they each received $25, as winners at that level. Alison won for her original short story and McCall won for an original poem. This is the third consecutive year that Gess students have been state winners in the GFWC Young Writers contest.
