Inslee did not ask for additional security…
The Washington State Patrol is planning on doubling the size of Washington Governor Jay Inslee’s security detail at a cost of more than $4 million for two years to help accomodate his run for U.S. President. WSP is expecting more out-of-state travel and will assign six additional troopers, a sergeant and a lieutenant to his protection unit.
The costs should add about $2.6 million to Inslee’s protection unit, on top of the $1.5 million already budgeted. The costs will include salaries, overtime, hotels, flights and other travel expenses.
Inslee did not ask for additional security, WSP said, it was the decision of the patrol after consulting with other states who have had governors run for president.
