Walter “Ted” Ogilvie 1942-2016
Walter “Ted” Ogilvie went home to be with the Lord on November 8, 2016 at home with his wife and children after a four-year battle with cancer.
He was born August 19, 1942 in Wenatchee, Wash.
Ted served in the U.S. Navy in 1960-1963 and was a charter member of the American Legion in Chewelah; a lifetime VFW member; and served as VFW Post Commander.
He retired from the City of Chewelah water department in 2004. Ted also retired as a volunteer with Chewelah Ambulance after 30 years and as a volunteer firefighter after 27 years.
He was a member of the singing group “Fred & Ted” for 20 years.
Ted is survived by his wife Joan at the home, Spokane Valley; daughter Debbie Perdue, Seattle; daughter Jacki Lindsey and husband Chad, Medical Lake, Wash.; daughter Jessica Olson, Kasilof, Alaska; son Paul Ogilvie, Prescott Valley, Ariz.; Allan Olson and wife Emily, Kirkland, Wash.; Josh Olson, Chewelah; brother Jack Ogilvie and wife Charlene, Spokane Valley; sister Karen Leinen and husband John, Palm Springs, Calif.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents Vi and John Ogilvie and one sister, Grace.
A memorial for Ted will be held Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, 2 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Chewelah.
