Packed days of activity in Valley…
The Valley Community Park will be alive once again for a good cause on May 17-18 for Warriors Against Cancer’s “Warriors at Work” fundraiser. There will be a huge plant sale, vendors in the park and food will be served most of the day. There will also be a 5K walk. Warriors Against Cancer has been around since November, and they help local Stevens County cancer patients. Fundraisers can take months to organize, and last year they had two events: a plant sale that raised $1,600 and a main fundraiser in June that raised $3,500. This year, the group combined the two events. There will also be a kids’ booth with games and the Valley Boy Scouts will be providing food Friday and Saturday.
“Come out, enjoy the day, get some raffle tickets check out our silent auction items for some great deals, and good food,” organizer Darla Olson said. “We will have information for any cancer patients who come. We give directly to the patients for any needs.”
Donations are welcome as well. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. The plant sale will begin at 9 a.m., and vendors will be set up by 10 a.m. Food will be served from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the silent auction down there ends at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The 5K fun run takes place on May 18 at 9 a.m.
