Nov. 30: Evangelist at Arden Church
Full time Evangelist Randy Chovan will be the guest at the Arden Faith Baptist Church Nov. 30 through Dec. 3, 2016.
Evangelist Chovan was converted on the Island of Okinawa, Japan, while serving in the US Air Force in 1976. God called him to the Gospel ministry the same year. He received his education from Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN, and from Spurgeon Baptist Bible College in Mulberry, FL.
Randy Chovan has been a Pastor and an Evangelist for over 30 years. He has traveled extensively, preaching the Gospel on six continents. He possesses a wealth of experience and knowledge that enhances his biblical preaching.
Evangelist Chovan is married and has three children. His wife, Grace Morrell Chovan, shares in the ministry through sacred recitation. The Chovans make their home in Huntsville, AL.
The revival services will begin at 7 p.m. each night. Pastor Arthur Houk encourages all to attend these services to hear Bible-based messages that will give life changing understanding of the Word of God.
There will be a nursery provided for each meeting. The Arden Faith Baptist Chruch is located six miles south of Colville at 673 Arden Hill Rd. The Arden Faith Baptist Church gives financial support each month to full time evangelist Randy Chovan as he preaches in the USA and different countries of the world.

dec. 1: first thursday art walk
The First Thursday Art Walk will be Dec. 1 from 5-8 p.m. in Downtown Chewelah. The “Holiday Show” will include art from artists featured throughout the year.
Dec. 1: Aglow Meeting
N.E.W. Aglow will hold their December meeting on Thursday, Dec. 1, 6 p.m., at the Ag Center on the corner of Aster and Washington. We invite you to join us for Christmas-y treats and fellowship. Drawing for raffle prizes will take place. These prizes can make someone happy this Christmas! Tickets are still available, $1 each or 6 for $5 by contacting Kathleen at 680-1411 or Kim at 684-3467. As an outreach and being in the spirit of Christmas, we are asking people to bring winter baby clothing, birth to young toddler size, (unwrapped) for the N.E.W. Family Services located in Colville. Connie David will be sharing about her recent trip to the national Aglow Conference in San Diego, and Blaine McCoy will lead us in praise to the King of kings. Both men and women are welcome. No admission.
Aglow is an international Christian organization which grew from small beginnings in the late ‘60’s to more than 170 nations today. It is a beacon of light in some countries where middle eastern religions and/or communism hold people in bondage. For more information go to www.aglow.org.
Dec. 3: SCCA Annual Meeting
The 2016 Stevens County Cattlemen’s Association (SCCA) annual business meeting will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Stevens County Ambulance building located at 425 N. HWY 395 in Colville. The meeting will include officer elections, discussions on local issues and guest speakers.
SCCA is a local, independent cattlemen’s association focused on supporting ranch families in Stevens County and working to promote their success and longevity. SCCA has engaged on issues like wolf conflicts, challenges with state agencies regarding water and land use, forest land management and other issues on behalf of their members. SCCA also works to share information with the public on ranching issues via their website, www.stevenscountycattlemen.com and their Facebook page.
Dec. 5: Library Board Conference Call
The Libraries of Stevens County Board of Trustees will hold a conference call work session on Monday, December 5th at 9 a.m. Arrangements to provide reasonable accommodations or an interpreter will be made upon receiving 48 hours advance notice. Dec. 9: Dinner and Music Program
Chewelah and surrounding communities are cordially invited to begin their season with a celebration of the birth of the Christ Child by joining the Chewelah Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for a Christmas Dinner and musical program on December 9, at 6 p.m.
The dinner menu will feature turkey and ham, mashed potatoes, rolls, and all the trimmings.
Traditional music commemorating the birth of Jesus will be presented by local singers and musicians.
The dinner and program are free, so mark your calendar for this holiday event.
The event is hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at the intersection of the Old Highway and Steinmetz Road in Chewelah.
Dec. 10: Chamber City Sidewalks Event
Be merry and bright on December 10, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., when Chewelah Chamber of Commerce hosts our first “City Sidewalks” event in Chewelah. Come to town to Shop Local during the event and look for special sale items at participating businesses and restaurants.
There will be Hot Apple Cider and homemade cookies available on the street for eager shoppers to enjoy. Chamber Bucks will be randomly gifted to lucky shoppers! Listen for the Christmas music around town and enjoy lunch at one of our local restaurants.
The Aaron Huff Memorial Cultural Center will also be hosting the Farmers Market Christmas Faire on this day as well.
The streets are lined with baskets full of greenery, ribbons and swags are hanging on the light poles. This was all made possible by the Chamber Beautification Committee. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Chewelah!
