July 13: Quilters, Wannabees
The Quilters and Wannabees will meet July 13 at Chewelah Casino from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The group thanks Karen and Susan for their color demo last month as it was very informative and helpful.
This month the group will be making mini design boards. To make one you only need to bring a 14-inch square of batting (warm and natural works perfect, make sure it is not polyester batting). Sew a binding around the edge of the batting on one side. Don’t stitch it to the other side. The group will have all other supplies. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to call Inez Heine at 935-6556 or Katrina Smith at 936-1329.
Please bring something for show and tell. It doesn’t even have to be quilting related. Hope to see you there.

July 14: NEW Aglow Meeting
The N.E.W. Aglow lighthouse will meet on July 14 at the Ag Center in Colville, and Blayne McCoy will be with us.
Blayne has announced at rodeos, fairs, and 4-H events as well as leading a great cowboy church service at these events. Vonnie, his help mate of almost 30 years, is right there running the sound system. For a time the McCoys headed a church in Chewelah where those who were feeling beat up by the world could come and get healed up. Since then they have founded “Bustin’ Loose Cowboy Ministries.” When opportunity arises, Blayne and Vonnie like to help out local ranch families with their cattle during round-up and branding times.
Aglow is for both men and women, so know you are most welcome to come and hear what this “fired up / freed up” cowboy has to share. Take some time out for fellowship and snacks with us at 6 p.m., prior to the meeting.
The Ag Center is located just two blocks below Main St., on the corner of Aster & Washington. For more info contact Kathleen at 680-1411 or Kim at 684-3467. Lighthouse meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday.
Soon the local group will be getting out tickets for a raffle. One of the items in the drawing to be held in December will be a king-size quilt.
Aglow is a global Christian organization active in more than 170 nations, being a light in some countries that are ruled by communism or middle east religions. To learn more about Aglow, go to www.Aglow.org.
