Quartzite Brewing hosting five-year anniversary in West Chewelah
Quartzite Brewing Company turns five years old this weekend. The brewery is inviting customers to come by on Friday and Saturday to celebrate. Commemorative steins will be available for purchase and the brewery is still doing outdoor seating. For more info, go to facebook.com/QuartziteBrewCo

Park Avenue Players presents “Shooting Star” via website streaming
The Chewelah Center for the Arts and Park Avenue Players are hosting their first production of 2021. Cheri Freeman will direct “Shooting Star” by Steven Dietz. The play, which will be read from the script, will be available to stream starting January 22, 2021. Snowed in overnight at a middle-America airport, college lovers Elena Carson and Reed McAllister have an unexpected and life-altering reunion. Elena and Reed revisit a past that holds more surprises than they imagined, along with a present that neither of them could have predicted. Playing the couple will be Clint and Melissa Kirry, who have been able to rehearse the play at home while staying in contact via cell phone with the director. Rounding out the cast will be their son, Jimmy Kirry. Filming and editing the event will be Sean Tabloff, who has directed and created the set design for several plays. -MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Pacific at No. 1-ranked Gonzaga Univeristy, 7 p.m. in Spokane. Game is being broadcasted on ROOT Sports and KHQ. This is a West Coast Conference Game.

SUNDAY, JAN. 24
Chewelah Peak Challenge Fat Tire Bike Race, and fat bike demo at 49 Degrees North
Try out this seven kilometer race on the lower trail system at 49 Degrees North. The race is hosted by 49 Degrees North’s Nordic Area and North Division Bicycle. Registration for the even is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The race begins at 11 am. Demos for bikes are also avaliable with North Division Cycle. If you’re racing, check out the single track downhill sections, conditions permitting. Next dates for these fat tire bike races are Feb. 28 and March 21.

MONDAY, JAN. 25

-Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day – so go wrap something up in bubble wrap

TUESDAY, JAN. 26
-Taco Tuesdays at Sportsman’s Bar and Grill in Chewelah
-Australia Day which means everybody in Chewelah has to talk in an Aussie accent

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 27
-Senior Lunch Bunch at Camas Valley Grange in Springdale, 11:30 a.m.
-Chocolate Cake Day so you can totally cheat on your diet on this day because calories don’t count on holidays

Community Drive-by Dinner
Enjoy Chili and cornbreak to at at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Use the back parking lot for pick up at 108 S. 5th St. E. in Chewelah. Dinner will be served from 4 p.m. ‘til the grub’s gone! Sponsored by Chewelah Faith Resource Group .
