AUGUST 10 – NE WA GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
The next Northeast Washington Genealogical Society meetings are on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. The morning Computer Interest Group (CIG) will meet in the basement meeting room of the LDS Church on Juniper Street in Colville at 10:30 a.m. Entry is located at the back of the building. The building is located one block east of the South Main Restaurant on Hwy 395.
For August and September we will focus on organizing your genealogy research. This month’s meeting will focus on Family Tree Maker. Karen Struve will demonstrate how to get started in Family Tree Maker software.
To Quote Mackiev (the new owner of Family Tree Maker):
“Family Tree Maker makes it easier than ever to discover your family story, preserve your legacy and share your unique heritage. If you’re new to family history, you’ll appreciate how this intuitive program lets you easily grow your family tree with simple navigation, tree-building tools, and integrated Web searching. If you’re already an expert, you can dive into the more advanced features, options for managing data, and a wide variety of charts and reports. The end result is a family history that you and your family will treasure for years to come! By the way, Family Tree Maker will continue to provide the ability to synchronize with trees on Ancestry.com.”
In September, Susan Dechant will demonstrate another great genealogy program, RootsMagic.
We will take a lunch break at noon and then meet again in the LDS Lower Meeting Room at 1:30 p.m.
Sue Richart, a long-time NeWGS member and one of our favorite presenters will be sharing information she has gleaned while researching the Colville National Forest Records. She will share how this information can be valuable as you research your ancestors in this area as well as other areas nationally who have these types of records. It gives us a better understanding of how our ancestors lives were impacted by the area they lived in.
All visitors are welcome. You do not need to be a member to attend the Northeast Washington Genealogical Society’s meeting.

AUGUST 11 – AGLOW MEETING
The AGLOW meeting in August will have Carla Reed as guest speaker. Carla has traveled across this country as a licensed, ordained minister and worship leader since 1997 when she was ordained by the late Ruth Heflin who was missionary to 150 nations. Before Ruth’s passing, Carla received the mantle of prayer and prophetic intercession over America. She has spoken at many Aglow meetings across the U.S. and spent extended time in Israel. In 2009 she became interested in the prophesied “new sound” and began to study frequency and sound healing. Having now received her national certification as a master sound therapy teacher, Carla has recorded several healing CDs for rest, healing, and prayer. Sample tracks of her music are available at www.carlareed.com.
Carla will be sharing about how Aglow has impacted the world and how she has been challenged to go beyond her own world of limitations. She has many amazing stories and experiences to share with us.
Meeting will be in the Ag Center at the fairgrounds, on the Aug. 11 (second Thursday) at 6 p.m. (for fellowship and snacks). Meeting to follow.
