Wellpinit drops road game…
The third quarter served to be Wellpinit’s undoing in their Tueday night game at Cusick. The Panthers made a run in that quarter to gain the upper edge on their way to a 83-73 win over the Redskins.
Cusick, near the top of the league standings, got the nine point lead after one, but Wellpinit came right back in the second to close the gap to three at the half. The Panthers put together a complete third though, and ran the lead back up to 17 by the end of the period, effectively putting things out of reach for a resiliant Wellpinit (8-6, 3-4) squad.
Fat Carmona scored 16 to top the scoring for the Redskins, while Steven Ford Jr. and Styles Picard had 15 each and Kobe Stearns added 10 to help lead the team.
It’s on to Almira-Coulee-Hartline for Wellpinit in their next game when they take on the Warriors Feb. 1 at 6 p.m.
Kettle Falls can’t bring home win…
Kettle Falls was looking to give the Odessa Tigers their first blemish of the season when the Bulldogs traveled to the Tiger’s den on Tuesday night. Things got dicey right away, and Kettle Falls was never able to recover in a 76-45 loss.
Odessa got the jump on the Bulldogs early, getting out to a big lead and never giving an inch until the fourth when Kettle Falls got a second wind and outplayed the Tigers to an 18-5 score in the quarter, despite the loss.
The Bulldogs (9-7, 4-3) were led in scoring by Matthew Thompson with 18 points.
Kettle Falls hosts Chewelah next time around on Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
