Milayna Hartill, Haven Rainer excel at throwing events…
Eight different Cougar athletes set a personal record at the B-league meet down in Ritzville on Tuesday. The boys had a strong showing in both running and throwing events, while the girls had some young talent step up in the throwing events.
Chewelah’s Judah Katona was literally singing in the rain after placing first in the boy’s 200-meter run (25.22). Katona was also fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 34-10.5.
Wade Baker took first in the shot put with a throw of 44-02, a personal record, while teammate Kaden Krouse was third with a heave of 37-01. Nicholas Shierloh was fifth (34-07.25) and Jospeh Trudeau was seventh. In the discus, Baker was second (127-08) while Krouse was fifth (99-07).
Ethan Rowe was second in the 800-meter run (2:18.43) and second in the 1,600 meter run (5:12.96), while Wyatt Collins was third in the 400-meter run with a personal record of 57.98.
Collins placed third in the javelin with a throw of 140-04, a personal record, while Brad Larson was sixth with a throw of 134-00.
On the girls side, Kristen Erickson was second in the 400-meter run (1:10.12) and third in the 800-meter run (3:04.82).
Milayna Hartill placed second in the shot put at a freshman (30-6.5) while teammate Haven Rainer was fifth with a PR of 29-1. Rainer was second in the discus (90-08) while Hartill was third (88-08).
Keelin MIddlesworth was fifth in the long jump (13-6.5) and Maili Masuda was third (30-1.5).
