Come see some knights down in Clayton…
This coming weekend, you’ll notice something a little different at the Clayton Fairgrounds. Yes, there will be horse trailers, so that’s nothing new, but riding the horses will be knights in armor. You probably didn’t see that coming.
This year, the Tournament of the Inland Empire will run Saturday June 1, starting at 2 p.m. through Sunday, June 2, until all the trophies are awarded. In between, you will be able to watch and participate in – horse events require horse experience – archery, longsword fights, equestrian games at 4:30 p.m., the grand melee at 7:30 p.m. and jousting at 9:30 p.m. These equestrian events are held later so it’s cooler for the horses.
Tickets are $10; children under six are only $3. This year, the Tournament is working with Second Harvest and will give one dollar off every admission for each can of food you bring, up to three dollars.
So grab your sunscreen and your curiosity and head on down to Clayton this weekend. It’s pretty much a guarantee that you’ll see things you’ve never seen before, unless, of course, you’re in the circuit. For more information, go to https://www.facebook.com/inlandjousting/
