Spokane County Sheriff’s investigators say murder-suicide possible in death of Newport couple
While an official cause of death has not been determined, Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies say a murder-suicide is possible in the death of a Newport-area elderly couple, Frank and Ethel Korbel. Rural Resources offering energy assistance in NE Washington
Energy Assistance – If you have NOT signed up for energy assistance, now is the time. There are two dates left in this energy season. The next date is March 25th and it is ON-LINE for this date. Mark your calendar for Monday, March 25th at 10:00 a.m. You will need to go to: www.ruralresources.org and complete the energy application form. You will not reach a person, this is NOT the appointment. This is just signing up to get an appointment. The form will not be available until 10:00 a.m. You, a family member, or a friend can access the on-line application by going to the Rural Resources website at www.ruralresources.org. Then click on the Apply for Energy Assistance button to apply. The on-line application will close when all appointment slots are full. The energy specialist will call Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00 – 3:00. If the Energy Specialist can not reach you by phone, they will mail a letter with an appointment date. State residents could vote on daylight savings time
Washington residents could vote to make daylight saving time year-round under a bill state senators passed on Tuesday, March 12.
Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill 5139 was approved in a 46-3 vote, just two days after clocks were set forward. The measure is co-sponsored by a bipartisan group of five senators and was introduced by Sen. Jim Honeyford, R-Sunnyside. Annual Spring Gun Show at Stevens County Ag Center on March 16-17
The annual Spring Gun Show will be held March 16-17 at the Stevens County Ag Center in Colville. On Saturday it will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday it will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $5, and there will be 50+ tables. The Stevens County Sheriff’s Office will assist County residents in obtaining their Concealed Pistol Permits on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendors can contact Dennie Fugitt at 509-675-5474.
