A Message from the Mayor

Our community never ceases to amaze me. The way the citizens came together when we needed funds to keep the City Pool open was wonderful. Thank you to those that contributed and thank you to the Chamber of Commerce and Kevin Herda for heading up the fundraising. It will be great to see the kids enjoying the pool and receiving lessons again this year.

I would also like to extend a great big thank you to Mike Bellevue and his crew at Chewelah Painting for painting the Center Stage in the Jenne Memorial Park. It looks so nice. With all the events scheduled on the stage this summer, the timing could not have been better for a fresh coat of paint. Mike and his crew did this as a Community Service. Their generosity is overwhelming.

I would also like to thank Sherri Hansen and the Chamber for the banners that have recently gone up around town. They go well with the freshly cleaned streets and sidewalks and the beautiful flowers. Thanks to Roberta McMillan and Diane Evans for spearheading the flower and cleanup project.

We have a busy schedule in our park this summer because of groups like the Kiwanis, the Arts Guild, Farmer’s Market and Community Celebrations. The hard work that goes into planning the events for our citizens to enjoy is greatly appreciated.

My letter would be too long if I were to take the time to thank every person and every group that helps to make Chewelah the most wonderful place to live. So, I will say one big Thank You to everyone.

Times may be tough, but you would not know it in Chewelah. The volunteerism and community service that happens in our community is incredible and makes me proud to be the mayor.

Sincerely,

Clancy Bauman

Mayor of Chewelah
