Jenkins High School Health Occupations Class Students Alexa Walters, Ashley King and Shawn Verzone, along with Chaperone Mary Ribble and Advisor/Teacher Jane Branda, went on a trip to Puyallup from March 22-24 to go to a health competition/event called HOSA. It stands for Health Occupations Students of America.
The organization is nationwide and consists of over 150,000 students. The students competed in health related events and all of them qualified to go to the National HOSA Convention in Nashville, Tennessee in June. The competition will benefit the students in not only reaching their health career goals but involve them in leadership activities in the medical field. They need to raise funds to make the trip possible.
They will be having a Baked Potato Bar dinner and silent auction, a garage sale, a car wash and other fundraisers. The dinner will be on April 26, from 5-7 p.m., or until the food is gone, at the American Legion Hall. Any community support would be greatly appreciated. Donations can also be made at American West Bank, under the name of Jane Branda, the HOSA teacher/advisor. The students need to raise $3600 total.
