Cougar was chasing Stevens County resident’s dog, and was on their porch…
Stevens County Deputies lethally removed a cougar that was roaming around a residence (900 block of Artman Gibson Rd.) near Colville on Wednesday night. About 7:30 on Thursday night a resident called Stevens County dispatch reporting a cougar chasing their dog around the yard and that it was also on the resident’s porch.
Deputies arrived 20 minutes later, observing the cougar on the resident’s deck. According to the Stevens County Deputies, it jumped off the deck and ran around the side of the house. Deputies followed the cougar around the house and observed it still in the yard area. They then lethally removed the cougar since it was presenting a clear danger to public safety.
The cougar was wearing what deputies think was a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife collar. Stevens County Wildlife Specialist Jeff Flood responded and took custody of the cougar, turning it over to WDFW.
