Expect chilly, windy and snowy conditions this weekend…
You didn’t think Eastern Washington was done with snow just quite yet, right?
The National Weather Service is expecting heavy snow and high winds in NE Washington and Northern Idaho which could reduce visibility. An estimated three to five inches of snow is expected in the area, while wind gusts of up to 45 m.p.h. could happen. A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect from Friday evening through late Saturday night.
Expect road conditions to be slippery and wind chills to be as low as 25 below zero which could cause frostbite on exposed skin.
While snowfall and cold aren’t anything new to the area, Stevens County Emergency management is asking people to plan and be prepared. If you have a generator, make sure it is fueled up and ready to go in case of a power outage. Keep a “pencil lead” thin stream of water running over night to keep pipes from freezing and if you don’t think you can deal with the conditions reach out to others for help.
Cold temperatures can also be deadly to pets so keep them shelters and warm until this bitter cold snap passes.
