The 25th Annual Scheimo Cup, sponsored by Hale’s Ales, drew 110 competitors from around the Pacific Northwest to 49 Degrees North on Saturday, February 18. Racers competed in a dual slalom format, with participants earning a commemorative t-shirt and the top three finishers in each category earning a spot on the podium, a custom-designed mug, and bragging rights until next year’s contest.
The fastest overall women’s time went to 13 year old Andras Bakken of Chewelah, and the fastest men’s and overall fastest time was posted by Daniel Voltz, also of Chewelah. Hometown racers were well-represented across all age groups. Daniel’s daughter Ella Voltz, 3 years old, was the youngest competitor, and Odd Vaarvik at 84, was the oldest.
Proceeds from the Scheimo Cup benefitted the 49 Degrees North Alpine Ski Team, and FAST would like to thank Hale’s Ales for their generous support. RESULTS:
