Rex T. Barrans, age 92, a longtime resident of Chewelah, Wa. passed away on July 6, 2017 in Spokane, Wa. Rex was born on January 23, 1925 in Council, Idaho.
He was the son of Clifford and Inice Barrans. During WWII, Rex joined the United States Marine Corp. and was involved in the U.S. retaking of Guam in July, 1943.
In September of 1948, Rex married Mabel Love. Rex worked as an electrician for awhile until he and Mabel opened Barrans Electric, which became a well known business in Chewelah for many years.
Rex will be remembered for his role as Asst. Scoutmaster of Troop 98 in Chewelah, his love of flying and building airplanes, rockhounding, hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling with Mabel in their motorhome.
Rex is survived by his wife Mabel, son Gordon and wife Deanne, 3 grandchildren, Craig, Hannah, Isabella, 6 great grandchildren, and brother Delmar.
Rex was preceded in death by son Steve Barrans, parents Clifford and Inice Barrans, brothers Wayne and Leo, and sister Alice.
At his request, there will be no service.
