Over $10,000 was raised in support of veterans at the Rev it Up for the Vets Car and Motorcycle Show on Aug. 4.
The Blue Angels Car Club raised $8,800 for the Wounded Warrior Project and Justin Peterson raised $1,100 for the Inland Northwest Honor Flight by selling hamburgers at the event.
Nearly 200 cars and motorcycles participated in the event.
“I was surprised by the outpouring of support from the community,” Organizer David Bergman said. In the first 15 minutes, they raised $1,600 and a single donor gifted $5,000.
Emily Rusher, a junior at Whitworth College, sang the National Anthem before the noon ceremony where 50 veterans were recognized by their name and years of military service.
In addition, community members wrote 22 letters to soldiers serving overseas.
Bergman said they hope to make this an annual event on the first Saturday in August every year.
