The use of campaign signs is a very important tool here in Stevens County. This letter is to remind all candidates to be sure and obey the laws set forth in the use of this campaign tool.
I have received complaints from citizens regarding the placement of some signs. For the most part the campaigns have been pretty careful to not place them where they are not allowed. Unfortunately there seems to be at least one candidate a season that is either ignorant or just careless in the placement of signs.
Please remember campaign signs are not allowed on the highway right of way. The state DOT will remove them. Also you must get permission to place signs on private property. A vacant lot is private property. If you are unsure as to whether you should put a sign out; you shouldn’t be placing the sign there.
I expect all Republican Candidates to abide by these laws. Also you should remember that they are to be removed within two weeks after the General Election.
