Have a safe Independence Day next weekend and consider the thoughts of those who formed this Republic. John Adams wrote, “I always consider the settlement of America with reverence and wonder, as the opening of a grand scene and design in providence, for the illumination of the ignorant and the emancipation of the slavish part of mankind all over the earth.” Ben Franklin wrote, “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Thomas Jefferson wrote, “The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” George Washington wrote, “Let us therefore animate and encourage each other, and show the whole world that a Freeman, contending for liberty on his own ground, is superior to any slavish mercenary on earth.”

Well, looks like someone didn’t listen their parents or career counselor… Officers checked an area for a man who pulled his shirt over his head and began yelling loudly…; a harassment complaint; another harassment complaint; and an officer investigated a suspicious vehicle at the park at 0200 hrs. A traffic complaint; another dog was impounded; malicious mischief was reported; an incomplete 911 call was investigated; officers responded to a bank alarm; and someone complained about three loud children in the W. 700 block of Lincoln. A skunky black & white Pit Bull was taken to impound after it was found running around without tags; a molestation report; and an officer responded to an alcohol-fueled domestic argument.
