(By Chewelah Chief of Police Mark Burrows)
During the week of July 23 – July 29, the Chewelah PD handled over seventy calls. Twenty four of the calls were traffic stops, three traffic situations were reported by motorists, and officers responded to several collisions in and near town. Officers responded to three disturbance calls; investigated suspicious vehicles; an abandoned vehicle; and a citizen reported threats over the telephone from an unknown person who was undoubtedly working a telephone scam. Warrant suspects were carted off to jail last week.
