So far this year, the Chewelah PD has handled approximately 530 calls. Since the middle of March, we have responded to approximately 160 incidents. Here’s a summary of those calls. One abandoned vehicle; a report of elder abuse; four burg alarms; an animal problem; an assault; and three assists to other agencies. Officers helped with an attempt to locate; attempted to locate a warrant suspect; two burglary reports; child abuse/neglect; and two citizen assist calls. A referral to CPS; custodial interference; a report involving controlled substances; three disturbance reports; a DOA; and four dog complaints. On of the dog complaints was a report of two Rottweilers wandering in a neighborhood. Remember to keep your dogs in your house, yard, or on a leash. Two domestic disturbance reports; a report of public indecency; two fraud complaints; six incomplete 911 calls; two reports of harassment; and a citizen requested a hulk inspection on an abandoned vehicle. Three info reports; an MHP report; a missing person; a couple civil papers were served; security checks; a report of smoke; officers contacted three individuals for various reasons; and a report of a suicide. Officers contacted five more suspicious persons; a suspicious vehicle; three theft reports; threats; officers responded to six collisions in and around town; five traffic situations were reported; and a citizen reported a traffic hazard. Officers responded to a report of an unwanted person; six welfare checks; and conducted 75 traffic stops.
