I’m writing to ask Chewelah’s citizens to please vote yes in April for the library’s annexation to the Stevens County Library District.
As a young girl growing up in Chewelah, I have many fond memories of riding my bike, along with my sister and mother, to the old Public Library building for weekly story time. I can still vividly recall all of the Dr. Suess books the story teller read to us kids. As a result, at an early age I learned to read for enjoyment and developed a love for reading and learning which eventually led to a career as an Early Childhood Education reading specialist.
This summer when I drive into town for my 30 year class reunion, I hope to see the library is still open to the public. My nephew, a sophomore at Jenkins High School, as well as all students, need their library. My sister, an educator at JHS, as well as all educators, need their library. And my parents, long time Chewelah residents, need their library.
Chewelah citizens, support your library and vote yes for annexation.
