Fire engulfs front of truck, downs power line…
Chewelah firefighters responded to a call of a burning semi-truck at Bernard and Main Ave. at 9 p.m. on Saturday evening (April 9). When Chewelah Fire Department engines arrived, the truck was fully involved and was burning through a power line. The power line was brought to the ground but just one house lost power – the house that the truck sat in front of.
The truck was attached to a lowboy which is used to haul equipment for Hansen Logging LLC. Hansen Logging lost their main machine show to a fire in earlier 2016. The driver of the truck was not home at the time of the fire and was uninjured. A nearby house was saved by firefighters.
