After being held scoreless through five innings and trailing 2-0, the Chewelah Forty-Niners suddenly erupted to score three runs in their sixth at-bat to upset Ferris 3-2 last week in AA American Legion play.
The Niners staged a late rally to put a scare into undefeated Pullman the following day, but they came up short, losing 11-8.
Over the weekend, Chewelah faced some strong teams at the annual Wood Bat Classic in Spokane. Although they won only two of five games, the Niners still boast a 14-10 winning record going into this week’s league action. They returned to Rogers on Wednesday for a single game before coming home to meet Colville on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., Mt. Spokane at 3 p.m. on Friday, and Asotin County on Saturday (July 8) at noon.
