Originally from Greenville, South Carolina, Stephen Christopher has resided in Brooklyn for thirty-five years. For almost twenty-four years he has pastored the Memorial Baptist Church. Before moving to New York City he taught school both on the elementary and secondary levels.
He and his wife, Ruth, met in high school, and have been married for thirty-nine years.. They have three grown children: a son in Greenville, a daughter in Williamsburg (Brooklyn), a daughter in Wisconsin, and three grandsons.
Pastor Christopher has had long-term interests in history, politics, and economics. In 2008 he ran for New York State Senate, and a year later he was asked by the New York State Conservative Party to run for mayor of New York City. Because of his interests in these things he often illustrates his messages with stories from history and illusions to economics. He is a strong believer in using the ancient Semitic culture to understand the meaning of Scripture.
Everyone is invited to come hear Pastor Christopher speak at Arden Faith Baptist Church Saturday through Wednesday, April 20-24 at the church’s annual Bible Conference. Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m., and 1 p.m on Sunday, and at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The church is located at 673 Arden Hill Road in Colville.
