Everett and Pat McCoy of Chewelah celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, July 8.
Everett and Pat met before the Navy took him to Vietnam as a well rigger. “She was just my buddy’s little sister when I left, but when I came home she had become a beautiful woman,” Everett said. He proposed by asking Pat: “You wanna go look at some rings?” They married in July of 1966 before a Spokane County judge and paid him $10.
The McCoys lived in Spokane and Loon Lake before finding their permanent Chewelah residence in 1975 when Everett began working at Northwest Alloys Inc. where he retired in 1996. Pat was a homemaker staying home with their two sons, Blayne and Heath, until after the boys graduated. She then worked outside the home at different part-time jobs in the community. She retired from her secretarial position at the Loon Lake Assembly of God.
Everett and Pat are active members at the Loon Lake Assembly of God, leading bible studies and worship.
