Here are the Letters to the Editor for March 28, 2019…
Bad laws and bad behavior
Stringent government systems and over-bearing laws never correct extreme behavior as history has decisively proven. Such systems have only exasperated extreme behavior in response to oppression and difficult conditions. Communism in particular has been responsible for millions of violent human deaths; where-in, citizens within those systems cannot defend themselves from violent thieves, murders, nor government tyranny. So, it is with the current mentality propelling a host of new anti-gun regulations in America. This is nothing more than communist ideology.
When the war on drugs was declared by the US government in 1971, at great expense with a new host of agencies and laws of enforcement, these actions themselves propelled a new complex and professional-level underground drug trade that has only exasperated the drug addiction, internal corruption and violence in America. This disposition preceded and set in motion the idea of militarization of police forces of which 9/11 security policies brought to fruition in true communist fashion.
The current host of anti-gun laws such as I-1639 in WA State will only serve to create by default a “black market” gun trade within the US turning many formerly “law abiding” citizens into pseudo-criminals as they desperately try to maintain the right and capacity to defend their homes and lives in this ever-growing violent world. The new security implementations post-9/11, immigration movements and emerging progressive anti-gun policies in the US will only exasperate the problems with violence in America as violence is fashioned in the heart and acted out due to the lack of personal morals which we as a nation have failed to keep; and furthermore, violence is also propelled by social media, entertainment, public tolerance, bad policies and government mis-behavior. “Bad laws only exasperate bad behavior!”
Troubled by Ocasio-Cortez’ New Green Deal
I seem to remember the first couple of days of March this year. The mercury dropped below zero. Now, whew! I think that is a perfect example of climate change.
And still the actress, AOC, reads her lines with power and passion, “All renewable energy in twelve years or we will melt!” At least Alexandria is easier to watch than Nancy, DiFi, or Maxine, but she is pushing the New Green Deal, that has little to do with saving us from ourselves and lots to do with taking control of our country.
If the socialists really wanted renewable power, would they really want to blow up the dams? Would they still be using windmills that take more power to build and keep running than they can produce? And what does full employment, free college for all and paid vacations by the government, have to do with improving the environment?
We have cut our “greenhouse gas” emissions by almost a billion tons in the last twelve years. China has increased theirs by four billion. If we have the New Green Deal forced on us, we will be forced to lose our manufacturing jobs and most farms.
Nothing you do has zero emissions. Even Al Gore’s big yacht. Or the planes the leaders will have to fly on when our planes are grounded. You see, like on the Animal Farm, some of us are just more equal than others.
I worked as a substitute teacher on Monday, March 11, at the Mary Walker public school in Springdale.
In the hall on the wall was this sign: “Remember what’s important. Forget marijuana.”
How correct this is. It mad me think of the bible verse, “I have chosen the way of truth.” Psalms 119:30.
