Micaela Kostecka completed her middle school career last week by winning all four of her events at the district meet in Newport.
Kostecka was the winner of the long jump, the triple jump, the 800-meter run and the 1600-meter run. In the process, she broke two school records. Her winning 1600-meter time of 5 minutes, 42 seconds broke the Jenkins Middle School record. She also established a new Raider record in the triple jump with a distance of 31 feet, one and one-half inches.
Kostecka is also the current record holder in the 800-meter run with a time of 3 minutes, 33 seconds. Her winning triple jump at the district meet covered 15 feet, 8 inches.
Winning three events for the Raiders was Maggie Cobb, who crossed the finish line first in the 100-meter hurdles, the long jump, and the 200-meter run. Her winning time in the hurdles was 18.9 seconds. She won the long jump with a distance of 12 feet, 11 inches. In the 200-meter run, she posted a time of 30.04 seconds.
Justin Lester was Chewelah’s lone winner in boys’ events as he finished first in the 400-meter run.
Placing second for the Raiders were Kyrstan Miller and Jared Patton in the javelin, Christian Walker in the 100-meter high hurdles, Chayse Frizzell in the high jump, and Sammi Trudeau and Elijah Williamson in the discus.
Finishing third in their respective events were Hannah Fischer and Ahron Wuesthoff in the 100-meter dash, Isasac Hall in the 400-meter run, Kyrstan Miller in the discus, Brenden Flanagan in the high hurdles, and Shayla Hartill in the shot put.
Fourth place finishers for the Raiders included Jayden Rainer in the shot put, Quenton Smith in the 1600-meter run, and Isaac Hall in the 400-meter run. Bigler. 2B – Sprague.
